Sean Cooney

Dr. Cooney is an Associate Professor at the Law School at the University of Melbourne. Dr. Cooney’s research interests are international and comparative labor law, with a focus on Asia, and Chinese law. He is currently working on new approaches to improving international working standards, including an ARC-funded project on regulatory reform in China to deal with the problem of wage arrears.

He has published articles in major refereed law journals in the United States, China and Australia, such as the Comparative Labor Law and Policy Journal and Bijiaofa Yanjiu. He currently teaches Chinese Law, Employment Law, and Law and Economic Development in Asia. He also spent several years as a lawyer practicing mainly in the areas of employment and administrative law.
