Lesley Jacobs

Dr. Lesley Jacobs is Professor of Law & Society and Director of the York Centre for Public Policy & Law at York University in Toronto, Canada. He has held a range of distinguished visiting appointment at other universities including the Harvard Law School, Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Law Commission of Canada, the University of California, Berkeley, University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia

In 2010, he was a Distinguished Visiting Professor teaching in the Transnational Health Law Program at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.  He is also a member of the Research Advisory Board of the Law Commission of Ontario.

His research interests include comparative public policy (esp. health equity issues, health law and policy, human rights); empirical social-legal research; courts and social policy; health and human rights; intersections between international human rights and trade law; and theoretical work on social justice. Although his work has a wide transnational comparative reach, it focuses mainly on public policy and law in Canada, the United States, China, and other countries on the Asia Pacific Rim.
