 Richard Kyle Paisley is the Director of the GEF Global Transboundary International Waters Research Initiative at the Institute of Asian Research at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He was previously the founding Director, Dr. Andrew R. Thompson Program in Natural Resources Law and Policy, Faculty of Law (2000 – 2007) and Senior Research Associate, Westwater Research Center (1991 to 2000) at UBC.

His current research, teaching and legal practice interests are predominantly in the areas of international water, energy and contract law, negotiations and environmental conflict resolution. He has directed a wide range of conferences, workshops and research projects, published extensively and has been an advisor and trainer on these subjects to a wide range of international agencies, governments, non governmental organizations and aboriginal groups.
