Mr. Sono is a Professor of Law at the Hokkaido University School of Law. He teaches civil law and international commercial law.
His recent research concentrates on international developments in contract law, especially the harmonious and progressive development of the CISG. In this connection he is a member of the CISG Advisory Council, and is the general editor for CISG-Japan Database. His other areas of research include the relationship between private ordering and the role of law and the law of licensing.
