Abstract: |
Making the world safer for people must be the first priority of the United Nations, Canada urges. Action on a broad range of issues is called for: the International Criminal Court, the secretary-general s plan to protect civilians in armed conflict; the trade in arms and diamonds that fuels fighting in Angola; a UN rapid response capability when civilian lives are threatened; child exploitation, in war and sex; an effective nuclear test-ban treaty; the illicit trade in small arms; transnational crime. |
