| Abstract: |
Heroin use is a social tragedy of the late 20th century that affects young people in their prime of life. Heroin dependence is associated with an annual rate of death of 1% and is linked with loss of employment, educational underachievement, increased crime, poor health and the spread of HIV, viral hepatitis and other blood-borne diseases. Opioid use has been a growing problem in Canada over the past 10 years. |
