Abstract: |
This paper’s theme is on the relationship between women’s involvement in the paid work force and their less visible, unpaid work in the household or community. This paper’s aim is to raise some questions about the interrelationship between various facets of “women’s work” in the Japanese industrialization process. This paper provides a historical overview of changing patterns and definitions of “women’s work” both in the household and in the public sphere. Also provides a focus on the rise of part-time work for women in Japan. |
