Abstract: |
A review of the recent history of feminist approaches to spousal support illustrates the philosophical and political development of mainstream feminism. This history has involved attempts to apply, modify, and finally to move beyond the liberal ideal of equality. What these positions have meant for awarding support will he discussed. This examination Of liberalism and its consequences suggests that, despite its anti – feminist rhetoric, backlash has missed its target and is, in fact, profoundly opposed to liberalism. |
